a sperry good day

Luke is away for some pre-deployment military training right now {I know, I know. I didn’t mention the deployment yet because, with the Army, you never really know if they’ll happen. Until your spouse is on the plane heading to wherever-istan.} He won’t be gone more than a month, and we’ve certainly endured longer separations, but this one hit us both pretty hard. It’s almost like it’s true that in good marriages, you love the person more now than you did when you married them. Who knew?

I’ve gone all typical-Laura and have been wallowing in self-pity the last couple of days. Except wallowing is different with a child. You actually have to get out of bed. It’s the most productive wallowing I’ve ever experienced, that’s for sure.

Anyway.

Yesterday was an uncharachteristically warm day for this region in January. Like, in the 60s, and when God gives you sunshine in the midst of your wallowing, you do not stay inside. So I put on my brand spankin’ new Sperry’s {totally an impulse-buy, but when you see them on eBay for $30, it’s kind of sinful not to purchase them.} which have been waiting for just such an occasion to make an appearance, and took Marcus and the pup outside for a lovely late-afternoon stroll through the ‘hood.

It was refreshing and happy. A Sperry good day.
