falling for fall

If seasons were men, Fall would be the one you marry. He’s the total package. The guy who’s colorful and warm, charming and loving. You can read with him, drink coffee with him, wear sweaters or shorts with him and he loves you just the same. Fall is a keeper.

I love fall. We got a little taste of fall in our neck of the woods this Labor Day weekend, and it was grand. It was so crisp outside – the weather was perfect. On Friday, Luke and I went to Jessop’s Tavern in Historic New Castle {Delaware} and had their famous crab dip. {they list it as an appetizer, but sweetlemonade is it filling. In fact, I double-dog-dare you to try to eat anything else after eating it} It’s such a warm-you-up-from-the-inside-out kind of comfort food. Perfect for fall.

I’m so looking forward to all of the fun activities that I save for this special time of year.

Like going to Milburn Orchards to pick apples and eat their super-yummy Apple Cider Donuts. Or stopping by Art on the Green; a sort-of flea-market-y craft show that’s held every year in Historic New Castle – an event during which local artists and crafters and the like come together to sell their wares. Going for a run in the morning without fear of heat stroke. Making pies/crisps; with apples and plums and pears. Having a big bowl of yummy soup. Opening all of the windows in my house and letting in that great fall air.

I love it all. Every single piece of this season is so rich and vibrant. Every sense is reached in some way.

What part of fall are you most looking forward to?

Be sure to stop by tomorrow – I’ll be sharing with you “essential fall wardrobe staples.” You won’t want to miss it!
