pull up a chair

I found 2 of this chair in Goodwill the other day:

For $4 each. So, $8 for 2 chairs. In great shape.

They are Ikea chairs which knocks them down a few points in the quality department, but they’re real wood, which I didn’t even think Ikea knew existed, so that’s a bonus.

But, they’re black (I’m aware that you can see the picture, forgive me if you feel as though I’ve insulted your intelligence) and I’m trying to get away from all of the black/dark brown furniture in my house. And move toward lighter colored furniture. Like white, or light gray, or even darker grays, but not too dark. OOH! Or aqua. MMMMM aqua.

I’m not painting the chairs aqua. I think I’ll reserve that for a dresser I bought from Craigslist. More on that later.

So, I’m using some leftover gray paint from when I painted our office gray. And painting the chairs gray. And then I’ll do a little sanding to make them all shabby-chic-y. So this is really an experiment. Because so far, I’ve only painted a fake-wood book case, and it turned out ok-ish. Not perfect; not bad. But I want the chairs to at least look a little better than that. Because I want to use one of them in my bedroom as an accent piece. Kind of like this:

Except instead of a blanket, I’d like to put a super-cute pillow on it. Maybe this pillow from Jone’s Design Company.

I know it’s hiding, but you get the idea.

I’ll keep you posted on the progress of the bedroom chair. I’m still not sure what I’ll do with the other chair. I really only wanted one, but I couldn’t just leave the other one there for $4. Any ideas?

Could you sit the extra chair on your porch with a couple of planters grouped nicely on top? Maybe near your door?

I will take the other chair off your hands. I’ll give you 5 bucks and pick it up. Besides I haven’t seen your house yet! Miss seeing you but love stalking you on the Internet!
