Kelly

You’re a “scorch mark”, you know? That is to say, a moment in my life that I’ll never forget. A person who changed me in so many ways, and yet, I can’t share that with you. You don’t even know me anymore. We’re different now, you and I.

‘Member that time we built igloos in the blizzard of 94’ and Franky knocked it down after we worked hard all day? We were pretty upset. Or how about that time we stood in line FOR-E-V-E-R to meet 3rd Eye Blind and the lead singer was such a jerk and that made it not even worth the wait? How about all those times when we stayed at your Dad’s house and would sneak out of the window late and night and walk around the neighborhood streets smoking cigarettes and acting silly because, really, that’s what stupid 13-year-olds do together. Ooh, or what about all of the camping trips we took with your mom and Gordon, huh? They were fun! The boys, the sun, the pool, those were good times. Remember Trent and Andy? That song we made up for them? We were goofy kids. Do you remember when we used to play Barbies on your front porch? You had the coolest Barbie house. I used to wish I had it. Remember how my sister used to scream at you if you came within 5 feet of our yard? Remember swimming in your pool? We used to pretend we were olympic swimmers, when really, we had no talent at all. Sometimes we even pretended we were mermaids, like from The Little Mermaid.

I saw you last night. We became friends again and what happened 5 years ago just didn’t matter anymore. We were hanging out, and catching up and it was you just as you were when we were silly teenagers, sneaking out of the window late at night, smoking cigarettes and acting silly.

And then I woke up.

    That was great writing!

It is so crazy that you dreamt about her out of nowhere!
